About Carlsbad

Carlsbad, CA routinely earns the distinction of Best Places to Live in both San Diego and the country. That comes as no surprise to residents who absolutely love living in Carlsbad and enjoying everything this community has to offer. With miles of sandy beaches, three lagoons, world-class golf resorts, a charming downtown, and acres of sprawling residential neighborhoods, if you’re looking for your next home in San Diego County, consider Carlsbad.

Carlsbad’s earliest days date back to the late 1800s. A sailor named John Frazier dug a well and began offering his water at the local train station, which was part of the Fallbrook, National City line on the California Southern Railway. This “whistle stop” station, meaning a train station with a very brief stop, became known as Frazier’s Station. When the well water was discovered to rival some of the best spas in Europe, the Carlsbad Land and Mineral Water Company was established. The town of Carlsbad, now named after the famous Bohemian spa town of Karlsbad (in present day Czech Republic), was on its way.
