South Park is the quieter, but no less vibrant sister neighborhood to San Diego’s North Park community. Living in South Park truly gives you the best of both worlds: outstanding food, culture, and access to some of San Diego’s best entertainment, along with a bit more peace and tranquility. Nestled along Balboa Park’s southwest corner and north of the 94 freeway, this is an ideal location for those who work downtown or in Mission Valley. Pacific Beach

Central S.D.

Pacific Beach, or PB as locals call it, is a vibrant beachside community in San Diego that attracts beachgoers, surfers, and sun-lovers alike. Residents living in Pacific Beach enjoy access to boutique shops, hotels, bars, clubs, restaurants, and cafes, with many businesses backing to the beautiful boardwalk and sandy beaches. While Pacific Beach has a reputation as a party haven for young adults, PB is a popular choice for home buyers of all ages – anyone seeking leisure, entertainment, and relaxation. Just south of La Jolla and Mount Soledad, this eclectic neighborhood offers three miles of boardwalk and an endless beach vacation vibe. Despite its spring-break-like atmosphere during weekends and holidays, PB is relatively mellow on weekdays and during cooler weather. A walk along the boardwalk is a great way to get a feel for the area, where you can see a mix of tourists and locals enjoying the sand and surf.

Poway

N. County Inland

Affectionately known as the “City in the Country,” Poway is a popular chance for prospective San Diego homeowners. Located east of I-15, between the sprawling communities of Scripps Ranch and Rancho Bernardo, Poway offers a range of housing options along with easy access to both freeways and beautiful hiking trails.

Rancho Santa Fe

N. County Inland

Notable local landmarks include Lake San Marcos, Discovery Lake, Double Peak Mountain, the picturesque San Elijo Hills Town Center, and the sprawling campus of California State University-San Marcos.

Solana Beach

N. County Coastal

Solana Beach is one of the smallest beach towns in North County San Diego. Encompassing just 3.5 square miles, it is tucked between Del Mar and Encinitas. Known for its close proximity to the surf and sand, Solana Beach is also home to some of San Diego’s most luxurious properties. Solana Beach got its start in 1922 when Colonel Ed Fletcher purchased 201 acres and established the new town. His improvements to the area included establishing several essential businesses, a train station, and carving out a path down to the beach through the coastal bluffs (present day Fletcher Cove site). This last was a real feat of engineering and patience. A firehose was used to loosen the sand which was them moved by steam shovel and washed away down at the surf line. The project took several months, but current Solana Beach residents have Colonel Ed Fletcher to thank for their access to the ocean!

Rancho Bernardo

N. County Inland

Rancho Bernardo is a residential community located in North San Diego County, along the I-15 corridor. Niche.com ranks it the 11th Best Neighborhood to Live in San Diego, with an overall A+ rating. Many people chose to buy a home in Rancho Bernardo because of the schools, close proximity to some larger office parks and tech hubs, and easy access to Downtown San Diego. Notable employers with offices in Rancho Bernardo include Amazon, Hewlett-Packard, Petco, Northrop Grumman, Sony, General Atomics, ATK Aerospace, Cymer, and more.

A Tour of Liberty Station

12956 · June 9, 2022

Liberty Station is one of our very favorite places to hang out in San Diego – it’s amazing to me that it’s only been open to the public since 2012 – as it was a retired naval training base prior to that. It has many great restaurants and shops – and the Public Market is the best in the City! It’s also very kid-friendly with its outdoor seating, mini-golf course, and the ever-popular Corvette Diner. There’s definitely something for everyone!
