I pride myself on not being your typical real estate agent. That’s why I focus my business on being your guide through the complex San Diego Real Estate market rather than just a “salesperson’. Living in North Park

North Park’s roots stretch back to 1893 when James Monroe Hartley purchase 40 acres of land near present-day Balboa Park with dreams of developing a lemon grove. Water soon proved to be a challenge, and the Hartley family struggled to grow their lemons as the city of San Diego expanded through the turn of the century. Hartley called his part of town “Hartley’s North Park” and when Hartley’s son and brother-in-law built the first high-rise commercial building in the area, the developing residential neighborhood soon became known as just “North Park.” A fun fact about this area: Balboa Park was the site of the Panama-California Exposition of 1915. As part of the event, an extensive public transit system was installed that included streetcars built by John D. Spreckels. They ran through North Park until their 1949 retirement!

North Park Schools

North Parks schools are part of the San Diego Unified School District. While the schools in North Park aren’t as highly rated as in other San Diego communities, students still receive a quality education through the public school system. There are also many alternative schooling options in the area including private schools and Montessori schools.

Elementary schools in North Park include Garfield Elementary School, Jefferson IB Steam Magnet, and McKinley Elementary School. The nearby public middle school is Roosevelt Middle School. Other schools in the area include Saint Patrick’s School, the Academy of Our Lady of Peace, the Charter School of San Diego, Saint Augustine High School, and several Montessori schools.
